TUBC’s Peoria campus rallied support for the Autism Speaks: Light it Up event on April 1 and 2, 2011. The organization is raising awareness on autism to help diagnose and work with children as early as possible.
The cause is near and dear to the campus, as one of our associate’s son is diagnosed as having conditions along the autism spectrum. Her family is raising money y g y for the cause and will be participating in the Chicago Chapter Walk, called “Walk Now for Autism Speaks” on May 21.
To help her raise money for her “team,” students and staff were allowed to wear jeans for $5 on Friday and Saturday. With the jeans they could wear blue shirts to show their support. We raised $200 towards her goal of $2000.
